SPAC trickles out announcement of summer programs with “Building of a Season”

Keep an eye on the website of the Saratoga Performing Arts Center with your calendar at hand.  Bit by bit the slate of summer performances is being announced.  Perhaps the “Building of a Season” campaign is meant to build anticipation.  Maybe it’s just the administration letting us know as things comes together.

The calendar portion of the SPAC site confirms that the New York City Ballet will return July 10-21. (At the moment only evening performances are listed, though with no repertoire. Presumably the traditional Thursday and Saturday matinees will continue.) And the Philadelphia Orchestra August 1-18.

At the Building of a Season page, clicking on the checkerboard graphic of artist headshots leads to the following portions of the classical season:

Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane Dance Company – June 7

Pianist Garrick Ohlsson – August 1 (Opening night of the Philadelphia Orchestra)

Pianist André-Michel Schub as artistic director of the Chamber Music Festival – July 29-August 14

Cellist Johannes Moser – August 4 (with Philadelphia Orchestra) and August 5 (chamber music)

and from the semi-classical season (in other words “Pops” with the Philly):

Vocalist Montego Glover and conductor Steve Reineke in “Sinatra and Beyond” – August 17

Cirque de la Symphonie – August 3
