Troy Chromatic Concerts: National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine | Prokofiev, Stravinsky, Shostakovich

The Troy Chromatic Concerts continues its 120th season with a performance by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine. Formed by the Council of Ministers of Ukraine in 1918, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine is considered to be one of the finest symphony orchestras in Eastern Europe. Its first conductor, Oleksander Horilyj, was followed by Nathan Rachlin who conducted the orchestra from 1937 until 1962.

For its performance at The Troy Savings Bank Music Hall, the Orchestra will be led by its Artistic Director and Chief Conductor Volodymyr Sirenko and feature Ukranian pianist Alexei Grynyuk.

The program is to include:

  • Sergei Prokofiev — Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Major, Op. 26
  • Igor Stravinsky — Suite from the ballet, The Firebird
  • Dmitri Shostakovich — Symphony No. 5 in D minor, Op. 47
