The Schenectady Symphony Orchestra finishes its 83rd season with a return to the Mainstage at Proctor’s. As nurturing successful musical careers for talented local youths is a heartwarming mission for the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra, the SSO enthusiastically welcomes pianist Rachel Sohn to join them in a performance of Saint-Saëns G Minor Piano Concerto, perhaps one of the composer’s most enduringly popular.
Rachel Sohn was the winner of the SSO’s 2014 Parillo Piano Competition while only a freshman and also won the Capital District Council for Young Musicians’ Chopin Master competition. In addition to playing piano, she is an alumn of the Empire State Youth Orchestra. Soh has been a student of Dr. Young Kim of the College of Saint Rose and more recently of Benjamin Hochman of the Bard College Conservatory of Music.
With Maestro Charles Schneider on the podium, the SSO program is to include:
- Edward Green — Overture in G
- Camille Saint-Saëns — Concerto for Piano No 2 in G Minor, Op. 22
- Johannes Brahms — Symphony No. 4 in E minor, Op. 98
