Marlboro Music Festival: Brahms, Dvořák, Mozart

Sunday, August 13th 2017 at 2:30 pm

Since its founding in 1951, Marlboro Music has transformed the world of chamber music and played a vital role in developing generations of new musical leaders. Marlboro was created by eminent pianist Rudolf Serkin—its artistic director until his death in 1991—and co-founders Adolf and Herman Busch, and Marcel, Blanche, and Louis Moyse.

Marlboro continues to thrive under the leadership of Artistic Director Mitsuko Uchida remaining true to its core ideals while incorporating fresh ideas and inspiration. After several weeks of daily rehearsals, the artists at the Marlboro Music Festival who are studying and playing together share with audiences the results of their in-depth collaborations.

In this final weekend of performances, this Sunday afternoon’s program is to include:

  • Johannes Brahms — Piano Trio in C Major, Op. 87
    • Gabriele Carcano, piano; Carmit Zori, violin; Christine J. Lee, ‘cello
  • Antonín Dvořák — Serenade in D Minor, Op. 44, B. 77
    • Nathan Hughes and Emily Beare, oboe; Olivier Patey and Afendi Yusuf, clarinet; Catherine Chen and Steven Dibner, bassoon; Nicolee Kuester, Trevor Nuckøls, and Wei-Ping Chou, horn; Sasha Scolnik-Brower, ‘cello; Nathaniel West, double bass
