Saturday, February 18th 2017 at 2:00 pm

Albany’s Westminster Presbyterian’s resident ensemble—the Capitol Chamber Artists—presents a special concert of instrumental music in memory of long-time and founding Capitol Chamber Artists flutist and member Irvin Gilman, who passed away in early February.

In its typical format, the concert is presented in two parts: a pre-concert recital at 2:00 pm, followed by a full concert at 3:00. The program will include baroque works for violin, cello, viol da gamba, harpsichord, and organ, including the famous “Bells of Saint Genevieve” by Marin Marais.

The performers of Capitol Chamber Artists [violinist Mary Lou Saetta, cellist and gambist André Laurent O’Neil, and Al Fedak on harpsichord and organ] are to perform trio sonatas by Johann Rosenmüller and Philipp Heinrich Erlebach as well as:

  • G.P. Telemann — Fantasia No. 6 in G Major for solo viola da gamba
  • Antonio Vivaldi — Violin Sonata in A Major
  • Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre — Violin Sonata in D Major
  • Marin MaraisThe Bells of St. Genevieve
  • Johannes Schenck — Sonata in A minor for viola da gamba from The Echo of the Danube

André Laurent O’Neil will also be performing solos for viola da gamba by Carl Friedrich Abel and Marais.
