Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival: Ashley Bathgate, ‘cello | Bresnick, Cooley, Madsen, and more

Brilliant musicians and composers inhabit the MASS MoCA campus from July 19th – August 5th for three rollicking weeks of innovative, unexpected, and ear-expanding music.

The Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival includes daily performances in the museum galleries (free with museum admission), a concert with the Bang on a Can All-Stars, and concludes with a six-hour blow-out Marathon Concert performed by the festival ensembles and special guests. The festival also features African and Latin music workshops, late-night concerts, free events in North Adams, and more. This year features special festival guest composer Louis Andriessen!

This Gallery Concert features Ashley Bathgate performs new works for solo cello by Martin Bresnick, Emily Cooley, Pamela Madsen, Jascha Narveson, Alex Weiser, and the world premiere of It Is Not A City by Randall Woolf, with the poetry of Tongo Eisen-Martin.

Note: There is no separate charge for the concert with museum admission.
