Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church: A Victorian Evening of Dickens & Carols | Rutter, Fedak, Koerts

Saturday, December 2nd 2017 at 7:00 pm

Begin the Christmas season with the endearing and entertaining tale from one of the true storytelling masters of all time, Charles Dickens. Under the direction of Saratoga Springs United Methodist Church Music Director Rand Reeves, you can enjoy an engaging evening of Victorian music and dramatic reading of the beloved Dickens’ Christmas Carol” with the musicians of the community.

There will be wassail at the entrance, music throughout, special scenery and trappings to help create a Victorian London setting for this favorite tale of the miserly Scrooge and his discourse with the three Spirits:  Past, Present, and Future.  This is a version created by Mr. Dickens himself for just such events, usually presented in parlors of his day.  Families with children are encouraged to attend. There will be a toothsome take-home surprise at the end!

The music includes a variety of traditional and English carols, Christmas Night and Angels Carol by John Rutter, an arrangement of Lo, How a Rose by local composer, Alfred Fedak and On This Still and Silent Night by James Koerts.

Admission at the door is by free-will donation, suggested donation $10.00.
